This morning I didn’t want to do yoga. Tight back. Can’t see my chiropractor until Monday, and I stood there going, okay, just do it, Sue. 😮💨
When I dropped into pigeon pose, something in me just softened, and my eyes welled out of nowhere. The same thing happened 25 years ago during med school in a yoga class. I was holding a posture and suddenly I was crying, thinking, what is even happening right now? I had no word for it back then.
Here’s the simple, uplifting truth: you’ve already done somatic healing.
If you’ve made it to 40, you’ve cried a bucket of tears, and you’ve felt something move through your body that your thinking brain could never have planned. The real question is whether you keep skipping the feeling part on purpose, the way I know I have, staying safe up in your head or busy in the doing, quietly avoiding the feeling part. 💛
Recently I showed up to a breathwork session barely wanting to be there, and at the end with no agenda at all my heart cracks wide open. Happy tears and sad tears at the very same time. Inside, I tell you what I see, who is suddenly right there with me, and the exact breathwork practice I keep coming back to.
